How do you take care of a money tree(plant)?
Hey Michelle,

Do you have the original Money Tree, %26quot;Pachira Aquatica%26quot; or a Jade plant, with the now common name of Money Tree?

I have the Jade Plant. And I follow the directions from the internet - it is doing great. The Jade Plant is not a Bamboo, but a succulent.

Excerpt from Wiki: Commonly known as jade plant, friendship tree or Money Plant, Crassula ovata is a succulent plant that sometimes has small pink or white flowers and is common as a houseplant worldwide. The Jade Plant is also sometimes incorrectly referred to as the money tree; however, the tree Pachira aquatica is the original %26quot;money tree.%26quot;

As succulents, they require a normal watering when the soil is dry in the summer, and very little watering in the winter. Over watering will cause them to lose their leaves (it is easy to identify over watering by the characteristic crinkling look that the fallen leaves have) and eventually the stem will rot away. Though jades can survive over watering, it is best to keep them on a 10 - 20 day cycle in the summer, and even less (up to a month dry) in the winter. Letting the soil dry between waterings is essential for a healthy jade. END WIKI

The other Money tree is the second site.
Reply:I have a huge 1 I water at least once a week

or 2x a week in the summer

it is so big

its on my desk at work and people are just amazed at the size of it

I have an awesome always sunny so cal window seat and this plant just thrives

its about 31/2 feet tall

I think its the %26quot;original%26quot; money tree as there are no flowers just pretty leafs and the trunk is braided.

I asked our %26quot;plant man%26quot; if i should trans plant it and he said %26quot;why ruin something good%26quot;

but imagine if i trans planted it!

it would probably grow another 3 feet.!!

Reply:It needs bright indirect light. Light strong enough that it will cast a shadow. Not enough light and it will drop leaves. Water at least once a week. Better to a dip test with your finger until you are certain how often you should water. Stick your finger in the soil and if the top 3-4 inches feel dry then it%26#039;s okay to water. You Don%26#039;t need to spray the leaves, just add water to the soil.

Good Luck
