I gave her a plant last week as a gift, to display in her office. The plant is now dead, should I dump her?

The plant wasn%26#039;t cheap and she killed it in a matter of 7 days. Is this grounds for ending the relationship? She obviously can%26#039;t be trusted.

that would be the dumbest reason I%26#039;ve ever heard to dump someone. you are kidding right?
Reply:Phew! Report It

Reply:Are you a PLANT LOVER or a FEMALE LOVER? Pick one. You need to ask her why the plant is dead. Maybe she was too busy to take care of it or did not know how to take care of it. Get real.
Reply:No you shouldn%26#039;t end the relationship.. Not everyone has a greenthumb.

Now, if you had given her a puppy and it died in a week...then I%26#039;d say yes, dump her!

Next time do what some one else suggested: Get her chocolate.
Reply:oii if your really feel that a plant actually resembles your relationship status you have with this woman/girl then i guess you rilly shud dump her because ur insane. go get yourself a gardener. your gf might just not be that good with tending to plants. that%26#039;s no way to blame or judge her. imagine if she asked you to knitt to proof your sensitivity towards her and if you faild to knitt sumting she dumps you! sheeesssh get some sense into that scull of yours!

OR...

she killed it intentionally to proof that she does not love you.
Reply:Kinda funny. She let the %26quot;love fern%26quot; die, huh?

If you%26#039;re serious, then maybe the plant was infested with something, or maybe it needed direct sunlight and wasn%26#039;t getting it in her office. Or maybe she%26#039;s just too busy at work to care for a plant. Or maybe she over or under watered it. Or maybe it needed fresh potting soil already. Or maybe the breed of plant you picked was not hardy and needed constant attention. Or maybe a severe change in weather killed it. Or maybe it%26#039;s not really dead but hybernating for winter.
Reply:There are several reasons a plant could die in 7 days. Aphids and over-or-under-watering are a couple. The aphids could have already been there when you bought the plant. Not all plants require the same amount of water. If she%26#039;s not a plant expert, %26quot;things happen.%26quot; You seem to value the price of the plant more than you do your relationship. I would advise giving her a break, and to give her a silk plant arrangement next time.
Reply:You should watch the movie %26quot;How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.%26quot; I just watched it tonight on USA. In the movie, Kate Hudson does all these things to push this guy away intentionally. She buys him a plant and calls it their %26quot;love fern.%26quot; He does love her, but doesn%26#039;t remember to water it and it dies. She gets bent out of shape about it and says %26quot;is this what you%26#039;re going to do to our relationship, let it die?%26quot; Mind you, she is trying to show you what it%26#039;s like to be a BAD girlfriend..making a big deal over something as stupid as a plant. It doesn%26#039;t mean anything. If you are going to worry about little things like that, you will always have something to worry about. Just don%26#039;t buy her anymore plants or things that need love n%26#039; care, thats all. Oh and rent the movie too, I have a feeling you need it.
Reply:it%26#039;s a plant...it just shows that she is too busy working to think about watering the plant you gave her..you%26#039;re thinking about dumping her because of a plant?

she should dump you....loser....
Reply:Yes, she clearly poisoned the plant deliberately just to annoy you. There%26#039;s no excuse for that kind of misplaced aggression.
Reply:what the ****! sorry, couldn%26#039;t help it.

just because of that?! is it her fault that it died? duh!!!!!!!!!!

i%26#039;m an office girl %26amp; i%26#039;m too busy to take care of a plant, don%26#039;t you think? besides, you%26#039;re measuring trust because of that?

if you%26#039;re after the money you spent for that plant, well she better think twice.
