My cat is terrified of my new (fake) plant?

Yesterday, my significant other gave me a gorgeous Pier One (fake) house plant as a gift. It is about 7 feet tall. My cat freaked out when she saw it. Now she is terrified (it has been 24 hours) and has been hiding and freaks out whenever she sees it. What can I do? Please help.

My cat is terrified of my new (fake) plant?
She will come around, give it some time. However, try not to move it around just yet because she may get freaked out all over again!
Reply:does she ever go out side?

maybe if she is not use to the outside environment and got out at some point and something scared her/him in the tree? but thats if she is a inside cat.

other then that maybe she is not use to large plants being indoors.

also she will eventually get use to it if she realizes its not their to harm her. Like show her the tree and familarize her with it. by gradually letting her play ( if u didn%26#039;t mind) or check it out on her own time when she get curious enough. Cats are very curious creatures and will tend to explore anything eventually even if their a little scared.

hope i helped!
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry but that%26#039;s funny. My cat%26#039;s freak out when I change trash bags, sorry cant really help.
Reply:It will get used to it.
Reply:Some cats are very novelty averse-don%26#039;t like anything new or different. I have a dog like that!

Other than just waiting a while, here%26#039;s a thought. Does it smell funny? Sometimes plastics and new rugs do for a time. If that%26#039;s the problem, it should dissipate in a few days. Meanwhile, I don%26#039;t think I would push the issue.
Reply:show her by picking her up, taking her paw and having her touch. or you can touch it. she%26#039;ll get use to it.
Reply:Enjoy, that is soo funny! Stupid cat is scared of a fake plant! You have to see the humor in that! Besides, how can the cat be freaked out when it sees said fake plant. It is not like a fake plant, or a live one for that matter, is stalking your cat!
Reply:pick up your cat, and calm her down. then, bring her over to the plant, and show her it. if she starts freaking, put her down. repeat until she is okay with just looking at it. then, let her sniff it or paw at it. you just gotta prove that the plant isn%26#039;t going to attack your cat.
Reply:srry but thats sorta funny.... i suggest that u show it the plan let it touch it and show the cat that the plants not doing any harm
