O Shoot! Will my plant still live?

Hi, everyone. I was given a gift, an amarillys plant a few days ago. I%26#039;ve been really paranoid because I cannot have it die on me, because the person who gave me it will get upset (I think). Today, my little brother tilted it and the stem kind of broke but not totally. Do you think it will still live? I have it propped up but I%26#039;m not really a floral person. Thank you so much for your feedback!

O Shoot! Will my plant still live?
The answer is yes it will live. Now the bad part, will the flower die, probably if too much of the stem is broken. If it does most Amarillisis produce two stems. If not just let it grow and keep the leaves growing and healthy. In the late summer you can stop watering the bulb and let it go dormant for about 6 weeks in the pot. Turn the pot on it%26#039;s side with the bulb in it and put it to sleep. Next year at this time it will flower again
Reply:The plant may be ok. If you can find a similar amaryllis bulb, you might want to substitute the new one for the old one, if it%26#039;s a gift that a friend or family member gave you, and they%26#039;d be unhappy as you mention. I%26#039;m not usually big on deception, but I think at times to make someone feel better, a bit of a fib is an %26quot;ok%26quot; thing to do. Most nurseries have a wide selection of Amaryllis bulbs this time of year, so if I were you, I%26#039;d take it to a nursery and see if I could get a similar variety. No one will be the wiser, and no one%26#039;s feelings will be hurt.

Good luck!
Reply:propping it up is a good thing to do but you need to have something to reallly support it -all the way - as it tries to recover and keep growing.

It depends how broken it is.

It will still live but yolu may not get a full flower or big flower.

However I would still look after it even if you just land up getting leaves and no flowers
Reply:try putting a piece of water proof tape around the stem to keep it together and it may bloom for you. Be careful not to break it anymore th an it is.
Reply:Tie it to a paint stir stick, bamboo stick, metal rod (made for propping plants - wallyworld if you can find the garden department in all the christmass stuff) or whatever you can find around the house poked into the soil.
